Republic Services has asked us to let city residents know that the drivers go on duty at 4:00 am and can pick trash up by 5:00 am. Please plan accordingly. Also, if you need a bin contact City Hall at 620-364-8283 NOT Republic Services.
Have you decorated your yard for the Christmas holiday season yet? Our mayor and council members will be checking out the decorations on 12/16, 17 and 18 and turning in their favorites to City Hall. We have $20 Casey’s gift cards for the top 5 winners!

Thanks to everyone that decorated their yards this year! There were so many wonderful decorations, it was hard to make a decision. Top votes went to 1020 N Arrowhead and in 2nd place was 536 N Arrowhead. Runner ups were 115 N 6th, 913 N Arrowhead and 102 Seneca Circle. Thanks again to everyone that participated.
Due to the expected inclement weather, City Hall will be closed Thursday, 12/22. We will also be closed for the Christmas holiday, 12/23-26 and will reopen Tuesday 12/27.
Coffey County Landfill will be closed 12/22 and 23. Republic Services will not be able to pickup trash on Friday, December 23rd. Trash service should run as scheduled on Friday, December 30th.
New Strawn Firefighters will be hosting a fundraising breakfast and silent auction from 7:00 a.m. – ??? at the Fire Station. Freewill donation and all proceeds will go to the New Strawn Firefighters Activity Fund.
NSCIO will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt starting at 10:00 a.m. at Jones Park across from the Community Center. This event is open to all children ages 12 and under. NSCIO is accepting candy donations for this event. Donation can be dropped off at City Hall.
The City of New Strawn is taking applications for a temporary seasonal laborer, $12 per hour, starting in May, for approximately 25 hours per week. Pick up an application at New Strawn City Hall, 215 N Main St, New Strawn. Application deadline is April 28.
There will be a council work session on Thursday, May 18th starting at 6:00 pm. This will be at City Hall and it is for the council to discuss future development of the city.
City Hall will be closed November 23rd & 24th for Thanksgiving. Trash will be picked up on Saturday, November 25th.

The City of Burlington Water Department has declared Emergency Water Conservation Required!!
They are contacting all RWD Districts and City’s that purchase water from them.

The mayor and council will have a special meeting on January 25, 2024 at 7:15 pm to discuss a potential Community Improvement District (CID) encompassing one New Strawn business.
There will be a special meeting tonight at 5:00 p.m. at City Hall in regards to an alcohol license.
